We Are Planet Protectors
Dylan Turzak is the founder of We Are Planet Protectors, an educational platform designed to empower elementary-aged children to become lifelong environmental stewards. Her project is a multi-pronged approach that includes developing curricula, writing books, and leading hands-on activities.
Dylan developed her curriculum based on Next Generation Science Standards and the core principles of Leave No Trace, ensuring her lessons are both engaging and educational. She brings her program directly to classrooms, where she has a goal of reaching ten schools this year alone. To expand her impact, she created a free website where she offers her curricula, activity pages, and tips for parents.
A key part of her project is her work as an author. She co-authored and published her first children’s book, Just a Jam Jar, which teaches young readers about upcycling. With a second book, Just a Box, on the way, she is creating a powerful series to inspire children to see new life in everyday objects. Her "big, big dreams" include launching a "Sprouts" club in every elementary school to foster youth-led environmental projects.
Beyond her local community, Dylan's passion for conservation extends globally. A proud Eagle Scout, she has also volunteered in Zambia with Game Rangers International to rescue and rehabilitate elephants, a testament to her far-reaching dedication to making a difference.
